Company Description Watson MacEwen Teramura Architects (WMTA) is an architecture firm focused on solving complex design and planning challenges. The practice specializes in projects primarily for institutional clients with a focus on labs, defence, security, and heritage conservation. Our partnership with McCallum Sather Architects provides additional depth in housing, sustainability, and mass timber. Role Description A full-time, on-site role based in Ottawa, ON. This role involves producing detailed architectural drawings and specifications, coordinating technical documentation across project phases, and supporting design teams with accurate construction documents. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve technical issues, review shop drawings, and ensure design intent is maintained through construction. Daily tasks include creating BIM models or CAD files, preparing permit and tender packages, and assisting with code compliance reviews and quality control checks. The role also requires clear communication with project stakeholders, proactive problem solving, and consistent attention to detail throughout the project lifecycle. Qualifications 5-10 years experience in an architectural office. Holding or eligible for high level federal security clearance. Experience with specializations listed above an asset. Technical drafting and documentation skills, including proficiency with CAD and/or BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit). Applied knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction detailing across multiple building types. Experience preparing permit, tender, and construction document packages. Experience administering construction contracts. Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and consultant coordination. Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or a related field; eligibility or membership in a relevant professional association (e.g., OAAAS) is an asset.
