The Millwright I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of stationary mechanical equipment in City-owned facilities. They will also perform preventive maintenance, align mechanical components, and maintain accurate documentation of work orders and asset usage.
We're looking for a skilled and dedicated Millwright I to join our team in keeping our City facilities running smoothly! As a vital part of our Facilities Maintenance Services, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our buildings by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing various mechanical equipment. The Millwright I is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of stationary mechanical equipment in City-owned and leased facilities. This includes a wide range of systems such as fans, pumps, compressors, gears, chains, conveyors, heat exchangers, and hydraulics. The Millwright I will also be involved in the construction and leveling of frameworks, foundations, and anchors, using rigging and hoisting techniques as needed. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently. What will you do? Perform preventive maintenance, repair, new installations, troubleshooting, and reconditioning of stationary mechanical equipment Erect, construct, and level frameworks, foundations, and anchors Align frames, couplings, bearings, shafts, drive systems, and sheaves Use precision tools to examine, measure, and diagnose equipment parameters Maintain an inventory of tools and materials. Keep accurate documentation of work orders, time tracking, hazard assessments, and City asset usage Attend and participate in safety, health, and wellness, environmental protection, and vocational training sessions Provide technical advice to work associates relating to equipment within the trade Certified Journeyperson in the trade of Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Assets: Experience working with complex mechanical systems in a large institutional or commercial setting Familiarity with City of Edmonton policies and procedures Skills required for success: Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Effective communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to safety and adherence to OH&S regulations Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (https://bit.ly/4brRrXm) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Alignment with the goals of the City Plan Conditions of Employment: Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steel toed boots, is a requirement for this position Successful candidates will be fit for a respirator, and compliance with the City of Edmonton's Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, is a requirement of this position Work Environment: The work environment is a mix of indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and chemicals.
