More information about Malabar Ingredients can be found at www.malabaringredients.com. Role Description The Quality Control Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Mississauga, ON. This position is responsible for performing routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Day-to-day activities include conducting laboratory tests, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, documenting test results, and reporting non-conformances to the appropriate stakeholders. The technician collaborates with production and quality assurance teams to investigate issues, support corrective actions, and help maintain BRC and other quality certifications. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) Focusing on continuous improvement, provide ongoing support with Malabar’s Quality and Food Safety programs including HACCP; Conduct daily Pre-Op inspection, and GMP inspection; Verify sanitation and allergen changeover procedures. Assist with annual validation; Conduct weekly scale checks and monthly thermometer checks; Ensure that all records, procedures and processes, packaging, chemicals, and equipment are in compliance with applicable government regulations; Conduct daily checks of incoming raw materials and finished blends including but not limited to visual and sensory testing. Provide immediate feedback to operations and purchasing personnel; Perform monthly environmental monitoring swabs and submit periodic spice/blend samples for micro-analysis verification; Perform weekly sanitation swab testing; Manage product HOLDS and provide weekly reports. Ensure proper code dating, identification, and weight allowance in products. Investigate quality concerns with customers and suppliers; resolve and follow-up on corrective actions; Upon customer request, provide Certificates of Analysis/Statements of Conformance; Assist Product Development with sample blending and development of new formulations according to customer requirements; Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills, including familiarity with food safety and industry standards. Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to evaluate data, interpret test results, and identify trends or deviations. Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in food manufacturing; Candidates should possess practical Laboratory Skills and experience working with Laboratory Equipment in a food or ingredient manufacturing environment. Post-secondary education in food science, chemistry, biology, or a related field is preferred. Knowledge of BRC, HACCP or similar quality management systems is an asset. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks in a manufacturing and laboratory setting while following health and safety guidelines. Solid understanding of production processes and procedures.

Post-secondary education in food science, chemistry, biology, or a related field is preferred; knowledge of BRC, HACCP, or similar systems, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to follow procedures are also sought.
