The 18,000-square-foot (1672 square-meter) facility performs altitude simulation tests on turboshaft, turboprop aircraft engines and on all sizes of Auxiliary Power Units. The principal responsibility of the Test Technician / Operator is to perform the mechanical installation of engine and test components, and to execute engine test procedures for Altitude Testing Facility. Responsible for day-to-day test activities on development test engines, test sections, control systems, accessories and components. This is a full-time position from Monday to Friday with a 2-shift rotation, based in Ottawa, and performed exclusively on-site. What will your day-to-day look like? Perform engine testing in accordance with approved test procedures, work instructions, and safety standards Prepare test beds, engines, tooling, and instrumentation prior to test runs Monitor engine parameters during testing and respond appropriately to alarms, fault codes, or test deviations Operate the Altitude test facility using various HMI controls to maintain equipment conditions throughout engine tests. Operate data acquisition systems to record test data, parameters, and results. Assist engineering and senior technicians in troubleshooting test issues and equipment faults Perform basic inspection and care of test cell equipment and tooling Assist in local EH&S duties & assist local Facilities Engineering when required What do you need to be successful? Technical college degree in aircraft trades or mechanical field 2 years of experience in mechanical field or control room environment preferred Functional English Level Familiarity with test instrumentation, sensors, and data monitoring systems is an advantage Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical power systems Able to support 2-shift rotation schedule Basic project management skills, ability to manage program deliverables Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) Background in diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a control room environment an asset Experience interpreting engineering or mechanical drawings a strong asset Appreciation of EH&S and continuous improvement (an asset) Must be detail and result oriented and be able to problem solve effectively Must possess a good capacity for teamwork and display drive and initiative What do we offer? The salary range for this role is 54,000 CAD - 93,150 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Requirements
Candidates must possess a technical college degree in aircraft trades or a mechanical field with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and familiarity with test instrumentation and power systems is required.
