This is an exciting and unique opportunity for someone who is a civil engineering technologist and loves the hands on shooting grades and layout work on a construction site. Our Grades and Layout Person is a specialist on our site and works with a Pipe Crew to ensure proper grading and layout. This is an existing position that is being filled. Required Education, Knowledge and Skills: Graduate of Civil Engineering Technologist program 2-5 years of applicable working experience as a grades/layout person Ability to operate a site level / rotating laser Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel and Word at intermediate level) Must have good communication skills Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as Blueprints, OPS documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Experience with AutoCAD and GIS software Knowledge of proper construction staking methods Excellent attention to detail Experience with Trimble GPS/ Robotic Total Station Duties and Responsibilities: Verify graded surfaces using various survey equipment such as a site level, laser level, total stations Perform as-builts of installed infrastructure, recording and maintaining project as-builts data Preparing layout data Performing quantity calculations and tracking of daily field quantities and survey records At Len Corcoran Excavating Ltd., we value diversity in the workplace because it allows us to better understand and meet the needs of our customers and the communities we serve. What you’ll do
The role involves verifying graded surfaces and performing as-builts of installed infrastructure using various survey equipment. Additionally, the person is responsible for preparing layout data and tracking daily field quantities.
Requirements
Candidates must be graduates of a Civil Engineering Technologist program with 2-5 years of experience in grades and layout work. Proficiency with Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Stations, AutoCAD, and GIS software is required.
