Sleep Technician (part time) Barrie, ON or Newmarket, ON Canada | req32829 Sleep Technicians are responsible for performing polysomnography sleep studies (diagnostic or therapeutic) with patients that present with various sleep disorders. The technologist will have direct patient contact including explanation of the procedures, answering patient questions, setting up the patient for the procedure, resolving technical or equipment issues and overnight surveillance of the sleep study. What you will enjoy doing* You will perform polysomnography sleep studies (diagnostic and therapeutic) for patients with various sleep disorders, including full patient setup, monitoring, and overnight surveillance In this role, you shall greet and educate patients, explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring completion of pre- and post-sleep questionnaires, satisfaction surveys, and technologist documentation You will make confirmation calls for upcoming patients to verify appointments and readiness for testing Titrate CPAP, Bi-level, and oral appliance therapy as required while minimizing disclosure of clinical information directly to patients Troubleshoot and resolve technical or equipment issues during the study to maintain high-quality data acquisition You will clean and organize the sleep lab after each study, properly storing leads, sensors, and equipment, and making beds in the morning Scan and submit technologist observations, questionnaires, and requisitions to administrative staff, and email them regarding any cases of severe sleep apnea Also, you will train and mentor less experienced staff, keep your BCLS current, and complete a minimum of 25 hours per year of sleep-related continuing education (CME), including attending quarterly CME meetings and contributing to staff education What makes you great* You possess post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (e.g., BSc in Sciences, BSc / BA in Psychology, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Registered Nurse, College diploma / degree in Health Care or Medical Technology, Registered EEG or Pulmonary Function Technologist, or Medical Degree) RPsgT certification or actively working toward RPsgT certification is essential You have current BCLS certification Preferably more than 1 (1) year of experience in a sleep lab or similar clinical environment Your strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, are complemented by experience with Alice 6 software as an asset Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and equipment issues You are capable of exerting maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 25 pounds Ability to use hands and arms effectively to handle, install, position, and move materials and equipment Why you will love working with us At Medigas, the healthcare division of Linde Canada, Inc., you’ll join talented and diverse people throughout Canada, all working hard to make a difference in our client’s lives and make our organization successful.
