Overview Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for managing, coordinating and motivating maintenance team while ensuring a high level of safety and quality with minimum emergency down time. What you’ll do
• Planning, prioritizing, assigning, supervising, and participating in all tasks related to equipment and facility maintenance. • Improve and maintain Preventative Maintenance systems. Make sure that all PM activities are completed in a timely manner. • Manage and schedule daily maintenance activities, including equipment set up, troubleshooting and repairs. • Organize and maintain storage and procurement of equipment spare parts. • Perform regular parts inventory counts. • Handle emergency situations and after-hours calls for repair and maintenance • Make sure that Maintenance staff is adhering to and following all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the OHSA and the company SOPs. • Report any hazards and unsafe conditions to the Company Management in a timely manner. • Maintain strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). • Ensure accurate record keeping as per requirements of current SOPs, GMP and GDP. • Manage employee attendance and vacation time to ensure that all shifts are properly staffed. • Schedule and coordinate work with all outside contractors and ensure that tasks are completed in a safe manner that comply with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations, and standards i.e. H&S, GMP's, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS. • Effectively communicate daily maintenance activities to the Upper Management, Quality, Supply chain, Manufacturing staff etc. • Participate as an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. • Initiate and actively participate in various Continuous Improvement activities. • Assist senior management with establishing and implementing maintenance and capital budgets; ensure Maintenance operates within budget parameters • Training and development of maintenance staff using continuous improvement methods. • Attend and actively participate in a weekly supervisory meeting. • Other tasks and projects assigned by Company Management
Requirements
• Educational background in mechanical or electrical engineering (diploma or degree) is an asset. • Strong leader with people motivational and development skills. • Minimum of five (5) years' experience working in a related position within the personal/household care, food/beverage, pharmaceutical or chemical industry is required. • Strong knowledge of OHSA, GMP and GDP rules and regulations. • Excellent interpersonal skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills. • Solid background in developing and maintaining Preventive Maintenance program. • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including understanding of PLC principles. • Progressive approach to maintenance and process improvement based on profound knowledge of the modern continuous improvement methods and techniques. • Strong knowledge of MS Office suite. • Ability to prioritize, plan and schedule work effectively with a Maintenance team in a fast paced and values driven environment. • Other duties as assigned
