Job summary

Company Description: Pontem Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support project teams in the design, review, and coordination of electrical systems for a variety of building types, including residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This role involves developing electrical engineering solutions related to power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and renewable energy systems. The successful candidate will apply technical knowledge of the BC Electrical Code, municipal bylaws, and engineering best practices to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs. This position is ideal for a candidate with 4+ years of electrical engineering experience who is ready to take on more independent responsibility while still receiving mentorship from senior technical leads. The successful candidate should be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with project teams, contractors, and clients. General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Prepare electrical engineering designs for building systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and emergency power. Develop and review electrical drawings, specifications, and load calculations. Conduct on-site field reviews to verify installation compliance with design intent, the BC Electrical Code, and municipal requirements. Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, and other consultants to ensure integrated project delivery. Prepare technical reports, assessments, and engineering analyses based on project requirements. Support the design of fire alarm, low-voltage, and communication systems. Liaise with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) regarding project requirements and electrical inspections. Assist with preparing proposals, scopes of work, and project cost estimates. Manage small to medium-sized projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality control. Support sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy systems and energy efficiency strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) is required. 4+ years of experience in the the building construction or electrical engineering industry preferred. Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Revit; Experience with electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, lighting calculation tools) is an asset. Class 5 driver’s license required. Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Competent with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Bluebeam is preferred but not mandatory. Requirements
