Summary The Parts Technician is the primary customer-facing role in the Parts Department, serving as the first point of contact for walk-in and phone customers seeking parts and accessories for a wide range of agricultural equipment. This position is responsible for inventory accuracy, order processing, and retail sales, and plays a key supporting role to service and field operations across the dealership. The successful candidate brings strong product knowledge, a customer-first mindset, and the organizational skills to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-line parts environment. Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales Provide friendly, respectful service to internal and external customers while maintaining a professional and positive attitude. Ensure customers receive accurate parts, supplies, and accessories in a timely manner. Promote additional parts, seasonal items, or accessories when appropriate. Participate in phone, email, and marketing campaigns to support parts sales growth. Achieve individual and department sales targets and metrics. Inventory & Warehouse Maintain accurate inventory records, including stock levels, part numbers, bin locations, and pricing. Receive, inspect, label, and organize incoming shipments following safe material-handling practices. Monitor stock levels and recommend reorder quantities to prevent shortages or delays. Support annual and cyclical physical inventory counts and promptly report discrepancies. Keep the parts warehouse and retail display area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Order Processing & Administration Pick, pack, and ship parts orders using proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injury. Record all sales and transactions using IntelliDealer and other company systems according to department guidelines. Track backorders, communicate ETA updates, and provide alternative sourcing options when available. Prepare accurate documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments, including labeling, storage, and safe transport requirements. Product Knowledge & Technical Support Stay current on product lines, manufacturer bulletins, WHMIS information, and parts catalog updates. Attend required training sessions, vendor presentations, toolbox talks, and department meetings. Maintain familiarity with agricultural equipment models, attachments, hydraulics, and OEM cross-reference systems. Qualifications Experience in heavy equipment, automotive, agricultural, industrial parts, or a related field. Familiarity with parts catalogs, OEM reference systems, and cross-referencing tools. Computer proficiency for data entry, order processing, and inventory tracking; IntelliDealer experience is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and deliver exceptional customer service. High attention to detail and accuracy when identifying, handling, and recording parts. Organized and efficient, with proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Sales-oriented mindset, including suggestive selling and the ability to promote additional products and accessories. Basic warehousing knowledge, including shipping, receiving, picking, packing, and record keeping. Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons and adjust to changing priorities.
