Senior Mechanical Engineer Location: Toronto, ON Type: Permanent Full-time Primero America’s team is currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer. We specialize in the design, procurement, and construction management of mineral processing plants. Your mission: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for mechanical engineering calculations, specifications, datasheets, mechanical equipment list (MEL) and vendor review & recommendation. This role will also provide technical expertise and support in the areas of mechanical engineering design, calculation, operation, maintenance, field execution/supervision and project management as required. The Mechanical Engineer will also be responsible for all other task required to produce the mechanical deliverable for the on-going Studies or Detailed engineering work. This person could be acting as Lead Mechanical Engineer, or Area Manager on specific mining projects. This position is reporting to the Discipline Lead – Mechanical Engineering. Key Responsibilities: Design and perform calculations for mechanical equipment and systems (e.g., crushers, mills, conveyors, HVAC, etc.) Prepare and review engineering deliverables including datasheets, specifications, and technical reports. Manage equipment packages and coordinate with vendors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams. Provide guidance to draftspersons using CAD tools (AutoCAD Mechanical 2D/3D). Evaluate vendor bids and support procurement decisions. Assess client specifications and recommend design improvements. Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and provide site support as needed. What We’re Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario is required. 8–12+ years of experience in mechanical design for mining and mineral processing projects Experience with detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning on-site Strong knowledge of mechanical deliverables, industry standards, and engineering codes Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics Additional knowledge in flotation, DMS plants, slurry/liquid pumping, and bulk material handling Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent communication skills in English.
