Location: Vaughan, Ontario Work Arrangement: Onsite Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Summary As a Product Development Technologist, you will play a key role in advancing Shawflex's product engineering and development initiatives by building expertise in assigned cable and product families. Your contributions will help ensure product requirements are transformed into practical, manufacturable solutions while supporting customers, operations, quality, and commercial teams. Success in this role means delivering accurate technical solutions, driving engineering projects to completion, and helping maintain the highest standards of product performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate assigned engineering projects, technical investigations, non-conformance reviews, compliance activities, project plans, timelines, deliverables, and status reporting. Develop technical expertise in run-to-order and engineered-to-order products to support product configuration and respond effectively to customer and internal technical inquiries. Interpret technical requirements and collaborate across functions to deliver practical, manufacturable engineering solutions. Support product enhancement initiatives, engineering trials, testing programs, product approvals, certifications, and standards compliance activities. Work closely with Sales, Business Development, Operations, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve technical challenges and improve product performance. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency. Create, maintain, and update engineering documentation, technical reports, engineering change records, monthly reports, and stakeholder communications. Collaborate with customers and external regulatory, testing, and certification organizations to support technical reviews, approvals, and compliance requirements. Influence project outcomes and drive cross-functional deliverables without direct people management responsibility. Support shop-floor activities, production observations, engineering trials, and issue resolution while following all applicable safety procedures. Qualifications Required College Diploma (3-year program) in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related technical discipline. 3 to 5 years of relevant technical experience. Hands-on manufacturing or shop-floor experience. Strong technical documentation, engineering analysis, project coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to interpret technical requirements and support product configuration activities. Experience supporting testing programs, engineering trials, non-conformance investigations, and compliance-related activities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate results. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred University degree in a related technical discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant experience. P.Eng., CET, or equivalent technical designation. Experience with cable design and manufacturing, extrusion, polymers, electrical calculations, or product certification activities. Knowledge of CSA, UL, ICEA, NEC, and CEC standards and requirements. Experience supporting product approvals, certifications, standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives. The provided range represents the anticipated base salary and target incentive for this position. The final total compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations. This job is vacant to fill a replacement. Requirements

Candidates should have strong technical documentation, analysis, project coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills; a related university degree, technical designation, and cable or product certification experience are preferred.
