Heavy Equipment Technician, 3rd/4th Year Apprentice

This position will provide support and expertise working on industry-leading equipment. You will employ logic and deductive reasoning in diagnosing and troubleshooting.  SMS Equipment is looking for a knowledgeable Heavy Equipment Technician, 3rd/4th Year Apprentice to join our highly skilled team at our Surrey, BC branch. Location: Surrey, BC Shift: 4x3 - 10 hour shifts What You’ll Do Join SMS Equipment and work with some of the largest and most advanced heavy equipment in the world. You’ll play a hands-on role in keeping operations running safely and efficiently by: * Diagnosing and repairing construction equipment * Performing troubleshooting and major component replacements in shop and field environments * Working with hydraulic and powertrain systems * Ensuring timely, high-quality repairs whether working independently or in a team * Following all safety procedures, including confined space and PPE requirements * Make recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement. What You Bring We’re looking for a team player with a strong work ethic and safety-first mindset. Successful candidates will have: * 3rd/4th year apprentice status in the Heavy Equipment Technician trade. * Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and a commitment to safe, high-quality work * Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in both team and customer-facing settings * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset. Candidates must be a 3rd or 4th year apprentice in the Heavy Equipment Technician trade with strong mechanical problem-solving skills. Experience with Komatsu equipment is considered an asset.
