Heavy Equipment Technician, Journeyperson

SMS Equipment is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician to support our construction equipment operations. In this role, you’ll put your expertise to work diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment. Location: Calgary, AB Schedule: 5x2 shift rotation What You’ll Do * Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment using advanced troubleshooting tools * Perform assemblies, preventative maintenance, and equipment overhauls * Complete accurate service reports, timecards, and maintenance documentation * Safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces as required What You Bring The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (off-road). Other requirements include: * Proven shop and/or field experience with heavy equipment repairs and diagnostics * A strong commitment to safety and clear, professional communication skills * Red Seal certification and experience with Komatsu equipment are considered strong assets * Willingness to travel and meet customer site access requirements * Valid Class 5/G driver’s license This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise). Must be a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician with a valid Class 5/G driver's license and proven shop or field experience. Red Seal certification and experience with Komatsu equipment are strong assets.
