Job summary

Overview Languages English Education College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years Experience 1 year to less than 2 years On site Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Responsibilities Tasks Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment Diagnose and locate equipment faults, and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment Install, arrange, remove and maintain telephone equipment, wiring and associated hardware Repair or replace defective telephone equipment Test installed telephone systems to locate transmission faults Analyze test results and adjust, change or repair switching system, network, associated equipment and software Install electromechanical, analog and digital trunking systems, circuits and equipment in telecommunications central offices and switching centres Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software Provide problem-solving services to network users Implement data, software and hardware security procedures Perform routine network start up and close down and maintain control records Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations Implement network traffic and security monitoring software, and optimize server performance Set up local area networks and connections to the Internet Additional information Work conditions and physical capabilities Fast-paced environment Tight deadlines Attention to detail Ability to distinguish between colours Manual dexterity Work under pressure Repetitive tasks Handling heavy loads Sound discrimination Sitting Personal suitability Client focus Efficient interpersonal skills Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Initiative Judgement Organized Team player Accurate
