Team Lead Electrical Engineer Location: Hamilton/Waterloo/Barrie Industry: Building Consulting Engineering Experience Level: Senior / Leadership About The Role We are working with a growing building engineering consultancy seeking a Team Lead Electrical Designer / Engineer to lead and mentor a team while remaining hands-on in design. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical leadership, client interaction, and helping shape the growth of a high-performing electrical group. You’ll play a key role in project delivery, team development, and client relationships across a diverse portfolio of projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage multiple electrical design projects from concept through construction Provide technical oversight and quality control for electrical designs and documentation Mentor and develop junior and intermediate designers/engineers Prepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical reports Coordinate with mechanical, structural, architectural, and civil teams Participate in client meetings, site visits, and construction coordination Support contract administration, including shop drawing reviews and site reviews Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting Assist with team growth, hiring, and process improvements as the group scales Required Qualifications Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology Minimum 10+ years of experience in building consulting engineering Strong background in electrical systems design (power, lighting, emergency systems, etc.) Experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff Excellent communication skills and client-facing experience Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously Preferred Qualifications P.Eng. designation Experience in healthcare, institutional, commercial, or multi-residential projects Exposure to business development, proposals, or team growth initiatives Why Join Leadership role with real influence and visibility Collaborative, supportive consulting environment Opportunity to remain hands-on technically while leading a team Clear growth path with long-term career progression Competitive compensation and benefits package
