Job Title: Electrical Technician Reports to: Managing Associate Location: Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Company Description Taylor Architecture Group (TAG) is a northern-based architecture and engineering firm with a focus on community design work, primarily for First Nation and Inuit communities throughout northern Canada. Our head office is located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, with satellite offices in Whitehorse and Ottawa. Projects include mid- to large-scale civic, educational, institutional, and residential facilities, as well as smaller-scale commercial projects. Role Description The Electrical Technician will assist with preparation of construction drawings, technical documentation, site reviews, and coordination with project teams across multiple disciplines. The role requires strong technical drafting capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines. While most work will be in office and computer-based, TAG projects are largely located in remote communities across the North and work will often involve environmental and logistical challenges during construction. The successful candidate may participate in field reviews, and/or site visits for projects which may require overnight travel throughout Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, and other regions as required. Experience working in Indigenous communities and extreme Northern environments is considered an asset. The Electrical Technician reports directly to the Managing Associate and works collaboratively with project managers, architects, technologists, and engineering staff across TAG’s offices. Please note that occasional overtime or adjusted work hours may be required to support project deadlines and operational requirements. Key Areas of Work Electrical Drafting & Design Support: Prepare and revise electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD and Revit Assist with development of electrical system layouts, panel schedules, lighting layouts, power distribution systems, fire alarm systems, and related building systems Support electrical engineering staff with design calculations, equipment selection, and technical coordination Assist with preparation of specifications, reports, schedules, and construction documentation packages Maintain drawing standards, file organization systems, and document control procedures Project Coordination: Coordinate with and support architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders throughout all phases of project delivery Assist with project setup, drawing revisions, document issuance, and consultant coordination Participate in and document site inspections, assessments, and site review reports and deficiency lists Support construction administration activities, coordination and review of shop drawings and assist in contractor requests for information as directed Manage workload effectively to support multiple projects and overlapping deadlines Health, Safety & Quality: Understand and follow all company health and safety policies Participate in the safety program (meetings, training, etc.) Ensure accuracy in technical work with attention to detail in drafting, documentation, and project deliverables Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technician program or related program Minimum 2 years of related experience in electrical drafting, design support, or consulting environments is considered an asset Understanding of applicable electrical codes and standards including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) Proficiency with AutoCAD is required, experience with Revit is considered a strong asset, familiarity with AGi32 or similar lighting software is also considered an asset Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare professional reports, correspondence, and technical documentation using Microsoft Office Suite Organized, independent when required, yet also collaborativ Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset MUST be eligible to work in Canada

Requirements

A diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology, an Electrical Technician program, or a related program is required; at least two years of related experience is considered an asset. AutoCAD proficiency and knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes are expected, while Revit experience is a strong asset; a valid Class 5 driver's license is also considered an asset, and candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
