Job summary
The Senior Radio Technician is responsible for programming, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing radio and satellite communications equipment at the radio shop & customer sites. We are looking for individuals that take initiative and that want to grow with us through in house, on the job, and manufacturer directed training. We are a: MOTOROLA Authorized Dealer, ICOM Authorized Dealer, COR Certified Employer Re-seller of Iridium, Infosat, Galaxy and Alpine satellite systems We Offer: Health/Dental plan RRSP matching 3 Weeks starting vacation (+2 additional weeks over Christmas that are paid) Year end profit sharing Quarterly company events Paid cell phone plan (or company phone provided) Annual Fitness and Tool Allowance Company and Manufacturer provided training Opportunity to advance and grow RESPONSIBILITIES Install, maintain, and tune antenna multi-coupler systems, duplexers, and transmit combiners RF Testing of transceivers by means of watt meter, multimeter, antenna diagnostics, DTF, basic service monitor use, modulation, channel bandwidths and signal levels Network cable testing, duplex operation, spectrum analysis, use of return loss bridge Read and understand engineering drawings and documents Install, maintain, program, diagnose, and repair MOTOROLA, ICOM and Zetron conventional and trunking mobile and portable radio systems and equipment Install and maintain various types of satellite systems BDA installing and troubleshooting Cable management Advanced Trunking ( Motorola Capacity Plus, Connect Plus, Capacity Max, SmartNet etc.) R56 Grounding Dispatch Consoles (Wired and IP) Detailed report documentation (site surveys, etc.) Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS 5+ years of experience with RF systems Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology or Wireless Systems Engineering Technology, or a Certificate as a Communication Technician is required, and a combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered The following certifications would be considered definite assets to the role: Electronics Technician Association, International (ETA-I) Associate Level Certification, Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) Certificate, CET(a) or CET Journeyman (USMSS Canada) Strong experience with duplexers, combiners, and antenna sweeping Excellent understanding of networking requirements and wiring standards applicable to the telecommunications industry Experience with P25, Conventional, and Trunking systems is an asset. Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills Willingness and ability to teach, train, and mentor junior staff members. Ability to grasp new techniques and deal with rapidly changing events and priorities Ability to work safely in hazardous environments Required Training Valid Yukon Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent Recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon start date of employment Pre-Access testing will be required for access to client sites Physical Demands Willingness to travel, including overnight stays in hotels and/or camps Must be able to spend most of the day sitting, walking, and/or standing May be required to, bend, kneel and squat for extended periods of time Must be able to carry equipment up to 50lbs Please note that candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer, and this is an on-site role located in Whitehorse, Yukon.

Requirements
Requires 5+ years of RF systems experience and a diploma in Electronics or Wireless Systems Engineering Technology. A valid driver's license and the ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50lbs are required.
