Job Title: RV Maintenance Technician (PDI) Job Location: Halifax (Elmsdale), Nova Scotia Compensation: Competitive Wage Employment Status: Full-time Seasonal (Through December 2026) Reports to: Station Manager Position Summary The RV Maintenance Technician (PDI) is a key member of CanaDream’s service team, responsible for preparing rental and sales units for guest and customer delivery. This role completes pre-delivery inspections, performs routine maintenance and minor repairs, tests key RV systems, and ensures each unit meets CanaDream’s quality and safety standards. Working closely with the Service team, the RV Maintenance Technician (PDI) identifies defects or safety concerns, documents completed work and escalates repairs that require advanced technical support. This position is well suited to someone with strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on maintenance experience, close attention to detail, and a willingness to develop RV-specific skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) on rental and sales units and accurately document all findings. Test and inspect RV systems and components, including plumbing, water, propane, electrical, heating, air conditioning, appliances, batteries, and slide mechanisms. Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs within the scope of the role. Identify defects, damage, safety concerns, or repairs requiring advanced technical support and promptly notify the RV Technician or Station Manager. Replace broken, worn, or unusable parts as authorized and verify proper operation after work is completed. Check automotive components, fluid levels, tires, and other unit-readiness items. Winterize and de-winterize units as required. Install basic RV accessories and equipment according to instructions and product specifications. Maintain accurate electronic service records, work orders, timecards, and parts usage. Assist with loading campers onto trucks and removing campers from trucks when required and when properly trained. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area for guests, customers, and fellow Crew members. Work collaboratively with Service, Operations, and Sales Crew to support unit-readiness schedules. Provide courteous and helpful service to guests and customers when required. Uphold a safe working environment by following occupational health and safety requirements and all company safety procedures. Embrace CanaDream’s core values and perform other duties as assigned. Skill Set, Education and Experience Related Experience: Experience in RV, automotive, marine, trailer, fleet, equipment, maintenance, or a related hands-on environment is preferred and considered a strong asset; however, candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. PDI Experience: Previous pre-delivery inspection or quality-control experience is a strong asset. Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic systems in a methodical manner. Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, propane, automotive, appliance, or HVAC systems is an asset. Driver’s Licence: A valid driver’s licence and a driving record that meets company requirements. Certifications: Propane refuelling and First Aid certifications are assets, or the willingness to obtain required training. Maintenance Experience: Experience with routine maintenance operations and a commitment to quality workmanship. Safety-Conscious Attitude: Prioritizes safety in all tasks by following procedures, wearing required personal protective equipment, and remaining alert to hazards. Continuous Learning: Ability and willingness to learn new systems, procedures, and technologies. Basic Skills: Basic math and computer skills, including the ability to enter service information into company software. Organization: Strong attention to detail, organization, sequencing, and problem-solving skills. Communication: Clear communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, and write English. Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and contribute effectively within a diverse team. Self-Motivation: Self-directed, motivated, proactive, dependable, and accountable. Attitude and Adaptability: Positive, flexible, and adaptable, with a consistent Can-Do and Happy To mentality. Working Conditions Employment Type: Full-time Seasonal Physical Requirements: Must have the physical ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Shift Work: The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including early morning starts, weekends, and statutory holidays. Overtime: Overtime opportunities are available during peak periods, providing additional earning potential. Physical Demands: The work is physically demanding and involves performing repetitive tasks. Employees will need to bend, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Safety Equipment: The use of safety equipment is mandatory. This includes wearing steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses or goggles, and other protective gear as required. Outdoor Work: Occasionally, you will be required to work outside, even during inclement weather conditions. This may include exposure to rain, snow, or extreme temperatures. Manual Dexterity: Good manual dexterity and balance are essential, especially when working off the ground or on elevated surfaces.
