This pivotal role demands a positive individual with outstanding technical, organizational, and communication skills, serving as an integral part of the Drafting Department. As experience levels increase, the Architectural Technologist will progressively take on additional responsibilities, contributing to the department's success and growth Primary Responsibilities: * Develop customized alterations to standard plans, encompassing the creation of new alternate elevations, floor plans, details, and options, ensuring alignment with customer preferences and project specifications. * Produce site plans to illustrate property layout and placement of structures, incorporating relevant details such as landscaping features, utility connections, and setbacks. * Initiate and oversee the submission process for architectural control approval, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and project specifications. * Draft additional architectural control requirements for inclusion in contracts, providing clarity and addressing any specific project needs or concerns. * Review and finalize check-sets of drawings for other team members, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established standards and guidelines. * Collaborate with structural engineers to request and verify structural layouts and required engineering details, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with building codes. * Regularly update and maintain standard plans to reflect changes, improvements, or new design elements, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all documents. * Foster effective communication and integration with other departments, developers, trades, suppliers, and municipal or city officials, facilitating smooth project coordination and addressing any concerns or issues that may arise. * Actively participate in drafting department meetings to discuss project updates, address challenges, share best practices, and collaborate on solutions to enhance departmental efficiency and effectiveness. Qualifications: * Diploma in Architectural Technician/Technologist or equivalent experience in design/drafting residential homes; * Minimum 3 years in residential design and drafting; * A current (within 6 months) Police Clearance Screening is required upon hire * Ability to set priorities and meet firm deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic office; * Excellent creative, interpersonal and communication skills; * A strong desire to contribute to a customer-focused environment; * Excellent technical knowledge in residential drafting; * Speed, accuracy and proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office; * Excellent knowledge of local building codes and by-laws practices; * Excellent oral and written communication skills with a focus on residential drafting; * Extremely well organized with good interpersonal skills.
