Job summary
Our client, a major resource development organization is seeking a MECHANICAL ENGINEER (Intermediate/Senior) to support the design, procurement, and execution of a large-scale mining and mineral processing project in British Columbia. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, equipment vendors, construction stakeholders, and operations personnel throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will contribute to mechanical engineering deliverables, equipment procurement activities, technical reviews, construction support, and commissioning efforts for complex processing plant facilities. Work Arrangement & Travel Requirements Vancouver office-based role. Occasional travel to project sites will be required to support construction and package delivery activities. Future site rotation opportunities may be available during project execution phases. Collaboration with external engineering service providers and project partners will be required to support effective interface management. Key Responsibilities Develop and review mechanical engineering deliverables including specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, and technical reports. Support preparation and coordination of mechanical and piping tender packages. Assist with equipment procurement activities, including requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor clarifications, and equipment selection. Provide technical input for mechanical systems including pumps, piping, valves, tanks, chutes, launders, and associated process equipment. Support the design and integration of material handling and mineral processing systems. Coordinate with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil/structural, procurement, and construction teams to resolve design interfaces. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, constructability reviews, vendor reviews, and technical workshops. Support site execution activities, construction queries, inspections, commissioning, and project handover documentation. Identify technical risks and collaborate with stakeholders to develop practical solutions. Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable, and maintainable designs. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. designation or eligibility for registration with EGBC. 5-10 years of experience in mining, mineral processing, EPCM, industrial, energy, or heavy industrial projects. Knowledge of mechanical equipment systems, piping, pumps, valves, and material handling equipment. Experience supporting technical procurement, vendor management, or equipment package delivery is considered an asset. Familiarity with engineering specifications, technical documentation, and design reviews. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, construction, procurement, operations, and maintenance teams. Preferred Experience Mineral processing plant, industrial facilities, or large capital project experience. Exposure to equipment such as crushers, screens, mills, conveyors, cyclones, and related processing infrastructure. Construction, commissioning, or site execution experience. Experience supporting multidisciplinary project environments from design through implementation.
