Job summary
At TSG STAFFING SERVICES, we are recruiting for an ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGIST for an Edmonton area-based opportunity to work in an operating plant environment. Job Description: Support detailed electrical design activities including preparation and revision of sketches, drawings, and as-builts Perform wiring checkouts, equipment validation, loop checks, and functional testing to support commissioning and system reliability Diagnose and resolve electrical equipment, control system, and power distribution issues while working closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams Review and verify electrical design packages, system communications, and power supply redundancy concepts Assist planner with work planning by supplying design related details and procedures, perform field tour and review the plan Maintain and update project electrical wiring diagrams and electrical data sheets Provide electrical design support for MCCs and associated equipment Conduct field verification, equipment inspections, and spot checks of ongoing electrical construction and maintenance activities Serve as a key field resource during installation, commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities within an operating plant environment Assist with drawing updates, design modifications, red-line markups, and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives identified through field activities Job Requirements: Completion of a Technologist Diploma in Electrical Technology and Journeyman certificate 10+ years of industrial electrical experience with a strong background in electrical design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field support C.E.T designation considered an asset Proven hands-on experience commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting MCCs, motors, instrumentation interfaces, power distribution systems, and associated electrical equipment Detailed electrical design experience with motor controls and protective systems, 600V and below distribution, lighting, grounding, and cable tray and conduit layout Strong familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code Understanding of manufacturing/material regulations and standards Experience in the application and selection of electrical devices and components for electrical designs Experience developing, modifying, and maintaining electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation Familiarity and confidence working on live electrical equipment in an operating plant environment Ability to interpret engineering packages and communicate design intent while providing practical field solutions during construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities Strong understanding of electrical ladder logic, PLCs, DCS systems, and control system troubleshooting is considered an asset Pay rates or salaries will be based on experience and current market standards.
