Job summary
The Job: We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Accounting Technician to manage financial operations for our growing business. You will ensure accurate bookkeeping, support project costing, and contribute to our financial success. What You’ll Be Doing: Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and tax filings with accuracy. Process accounts payable/receivable and payroll for clients. Support audits and ensure compliance with CRA regulations. Collaborate with our team to streamline bookkeeping processes. Administer payroll for staff, including deductions, remittances, and T4 preparation, ensuring CRA compliance. Track project costs (e.g., material, labor, equipment) to support accurate job costing and profitability analysis. Assist with GST/HST filings, corporate tax preparation, and year-end audit support for construction-related expenses. Maintain organized records using accounting software (Sage) and Excel for inventory and sales tracking. Collaborate with project managers to align financial data with fabrication timelines and client contracts. Provide responsive client and vendor support, addressing billing inquiries with professionalism. What We're Looking For In A Successful Individual: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or stone fabrication. Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to actively listen, present solutions effectively, and build rapport with customers. Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to think on your feet and provide creative solutions to customer needs. Team Player: Works well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Initiative: A "take the opportunity and run with it" attitude and operating with a focus on urgency and objectives Strong organizational skills and a passion for numbers.
