Earth Resources Technician

What you’ll be doing: Field work * Working outside in all weather conditions, with some office/shop work; * After training, performing tasks involved in the following areas: * Aquifer pumping test; * Assisting with pump installations; * Data logger installations; * Data collection and organization, such as: * Geophysical logging; * Water level measurements; * Groundwater sampling; and * Project documentation. * Communication with team members and project managers to ensure project goals are being met; * Participation in Health & Safety programs; * Other duties as assigned. Data management * Organizing and inputting field data into electronic system; * Performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on collected data; * Preparing data outputs in the form of figures and tables to support research and reporting. Equipment maintenance * Maintaining and improving hydrogeological and geophysical tools; * Strong mechanical aptitude, experience with mechanical equipment to troubleshoot issues. What you bring: * At least one year of water well or environmental consulting experience; * Familiarity with Water Well Act Regulation 903; * Well Technician License would be considered an asset; * Knowledge and aptitude of electrical, mechanical, or plumbing would be considered an asset; * Knowledge of heavy equipment, hydraulics, well drilling systems, and pumping equipment would be considered an asset; * Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills; * Knowledge of computers and experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, AutoCAD/GIS, and QA/QC processes is an asset; * A valid class G Ontario driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract; experience with trailer towing is an asset; * Ability to work 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday), with minimal weekend or overnight work. Flexibility to work overtime when required. You’ll stand out if you also bring: * Post-secondary education, including knowledge of drilling, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science; * Previous experience in hydrogeology or a related field is preferred; * A high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning; * Familiarity with groundwater sampling, well installation, and geophysical survey is beneficial; * The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment; * Commitment to customer service with a strong sense of urgency; * First Aid, WHMIS (will train). Perform field-based hydrogeological tasks including aquifer pumping tests, groundwater sampling, and geophysical logging. Manage field data through electronic input, quality assurance, and the creation of figures and tables for reporting.

Requires at least one year of water well or environmental consulting experience and a valid Ontario class G driver's license. Post-secondary education in geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science is preferred.
