Role Description The Heavy Equipment Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. The technician will inspect, diagnose, and repair a variety of heavy compaction and paving equipment, including soil and asphalt compactors and related machinery. Daily tasks include performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing necessary documentation and service reports. The role also involves collaborating with parts and sales teams, supporting commercial vehicle inspections where required, and ensuring all work meets safety and quality standards. The technician will interact with customers and coworkers in a professional manner, helping maintain Williamson Equipment’s reputation for reliable service. Qualifications Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance, including preventive service and safety checks. Hands-on experience with Heavy Equipment used in compaction, paving, and construction applications. Proficiency in Equipment Repair and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Ability to effectively diagnose issues using troubleshooting techniques, service manuals, and diagnostic tools. Relevant technical training or certification in heavy-duty mechanics, automotive service, or a related field. Knowledge of safe shop practices and ability to follow occupational health and safety regulations. Comfort reading technical diagrams and parts catalogs; experience with OEM equipment is an asset. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple service tasks. Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in construction equipment, paving, or compaction industries is considered an advantage.
