West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. The Ranger Board division is currently recruiting for a Chief Steam Engineer, reporting to the Production Superintendent.

You Will:

  • Provide leadership, direction, development and supervision to the shift engineers to ensure safe operation as per the Act, of two Wood Waste Thermal Oil Furnaces and associated equipment plus other pressure equipment at the facility including four refiners.
  • Safety management including orientation, training, worker observations, identifying and correcting safety hazards, accident and near-miss investigations, emergency protection systems, documentation and participate in site audits by regulatory bodies
  • Ensuring the Energy systems are maintained
  • Identifying, developing ideas and budgeting for optimization and efficiency improvements
  • Supporting the mill with capital project development and implementation
  • Maintaining operating cost control measures
  • Inventory control of hog fuel, consumables and waste products
  • Being a key member of the leadership team
  • Providing relief coverage for the Production Superintendent

You have:

  • Proven leadership skills and experience
  • A 3rd class power engineering certificate
  • Industrial experience preferably including Thermal Oil and/or Power Generation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed

Compensation Package:

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, and education.
