The Project Manager will manage labour, purchasing, supplier and subcontractor coordination, scheduling, and financials of assigned mechanical construction projects in Southern Alberta. Projects will have a focus on plumbing, heating, and HVAC, in commercial, multi-family and light industrial sectors. You will be responsible for establishing and managing client relationships. This position is based at the branch with occasional travel to project sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate and contribute in estimating turnover, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Support the project Foreperson by developing a strong working relationship and providing project execution guidance for assigned projects.
  • Effectively manage the labour workforce on assigned projects.
  • Complete detailed and accurate monthly financial forecasting reports and participate in our project status review (PSR) meetings.
  • Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships; review contracts for scope, maintain productivity, quality, and costs, and ensure the projects are completed in a manner that supports the overall strategic and operational objectives of the company.
  • Attend client and construction meetings as required and to disseminate the information to the workforce, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Attend job site progress walks and monitor progress and schedule.
  • Estimating and assisting in estimating if required.
  • Ensure that Modern Niagara's safety standards are communicated and adhered to.
  • Participate in project reviews to foster the continuous process improvements.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Possess a relevant Journeyperson trade certificate (Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC)
  • 5+ years' experience in the construction industry in a Project Management capacity with a strong emphasis placed on Mechanical work.
  • Ability to run multiple jobs at one time ranging up to $1.5M
  • Ability to interpret the site and building plans and specifications.
  • Comfortable in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a proven track record of successfully prioritizing tasks based on demand and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Fundamental understanding of project financial controls.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word)
  • Possess a valid driver's license and available for occasional travel (10%) to site locations with own vehicle
