As a Senior Manager, Process Safety Engineering, you will be at the forefront of both high-level technical contributions and guiding a dedicated team of process safety engineers.

In this role, you will own and drive key CTCHO process safety and risk management work processes, ensuring they align with our corporate COIMS requirements and risk tolerance. Your leadership will be pivotal in assuring and verifying process safety activities, fostering alignment and knowledge sharing with Cenovus corporate Process Safety Team and other business units.

Additionally, you will play a crucial role in leading the competency management and training of front-line practitioners and process safety professionals.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain key process safety procedures and tools for CTCHO:

    • Abnormal Conditions Risk procedure

    • Risk Assessment procedure and training materials

    • CTCHO Process Safety Dashboard

    • PHA review procedure and training materials

    • CTCHO HAZOP Revalidation Program

    • Barrier Health assurance

    • CTCHO Risk Management Process

  • Ensure roll-out and training are provided to all users of process safety and risk management tools across CTCHO functional teams

  • Lead regular verification reviews to assess the quality and conformance of both risk assessment and barrier health work, and provide a monthly report on verification and health metrics to the CTCHO senior leadership team

  • Manage LOD 2 verification reviews of process safety and risk management systems

  • Oversee the Facility Revalidation HAZOP Program for all CTCHO facilities

  • Ensure tactical support for PHA reviews performed on CTCHO Facilities Engineering Projects and risk assessments in the field

  • Liaison with corporate Process Safety Teams to ensure CTCHO work complies with COIMS Standards and to access specialized technical support for complex issues

  • Lead Competency Management for CTCHO Process Safety Engineers, facilitators and practitioners

  • Manage HAZID, Bow-tie and siting study work

  • Act as CTCHO Element Owner for COIMS Element 3

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering

  • Licensed engineer with APEGA

  • 16-24 years experience in engineering roles supporting oil and gas operations, including experience in Process Safety Engineering support roles

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a technical leader, mentoring and leading other technical professionals

  • High levels of knowledge in Process Safety best practices, including expertise in facility design reviews, risk assessment and risk assurance activities

  • Functional understanding of oil and gas facility operations as a basis to understand and collaborate with functional teams in facility operations, maintenance, and engineering

  • Functional understanding of corporate COIMS standards and process safety / risk management systems

  • Strong writing skills, including the ability to create governing documentation such as procedures and training packages

  • Strong verbal communication skills and experience presenting complex technical information to practitioners and leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to develop trust and strong working relationships with people in front line leadership, execution and senior leadership roles

  • Ability to adapt complex safety standards and systems into fit-for-purpose tools and solutions that support the accountabilities of the business unit and needs of front-line users
