In direct support of Cenovus’ current business plan, you will complete an Exploration or Exploitation project under the guidance of an experienced geoscientist
Participate in project work that will contribute to your geotechnical development in many areas, including stratigraphic interpretation, core description and analysis, well log analysis, geological mapping, seismic interpretation, and hydrocarbon volumetric analysis. Cross disciplinary development will be encouraged as well as business awareness of the oil and gas industry.
Complete formal courses to aid in your technical development
Participate in a mentorship program which pairs you with another geoscientist to expand your exposure to different workflows and skills
Your job performance will be reviewed periodically throughout and appraised at the end of the term, culminating with a formal presentation to a range of stakeholders and evaluators.
Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term; able to produce documentation (e.g. work visa)
Currently enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate studies in a Geosciences program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment
Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize
Innovative, with a strong desire to learn and the ability to encourage new ways of looking at problems, processes or solutions
Demonstrates collaboration by actively seeking out diverse people and organizations to collectively achieve business goals
Strong computer knowledge of MS Office Suite
Experience with subsurface geotechnical applications would be an asset
