About the role

As a system test and integration engineer you will be working on mission critical software for the control and analytics of unmanned vehicles and systems.

Lockheed Martin Canada CDL Systems software is deployed globally in Small (SUAS), Medium, Large, and high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) systems as well as surface vehicles and target systems.

As part of The Skunk Works team, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting edge next generation ground control system platforms as well as computer vision and AI applications in the air and on the ground.

We're looking for a system test and integration engineer to play a critical role in engineering mission critical software for unmanned vehicles. Primarily, system test and integration engineers support the development of these systems by ensuring correctness, consistency, and performance. As well, they act as first line contacts with customers, supporting the integration of our software into their systems. You will work tightly with developers to form a cohesive, cross functional team capable of bringing products from user stories to a tested, polished, final product.

Job Summary / Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality of mission-critical software for control and analytics in unmanned systems.
  • Perform exploratory software testing and create, maintain and run test scenarios.
  • Learn industry needs and trends to inform new features and product roadmap.
  • Hands on work setting up and debugging small UAVs, payloads, radios and other hardware.
  • Work directly with customers to integrate our software into their systems. Occasional travel to customer sites maybe be required to support these integration efforts.
  • Work with customers to understand system requirements and ensure our software meets those requirements.
  • Discover, predict, and diagnose issues in systems.
  • Participate in local flight operations to test systems.
  • Advocate for consistency and positive user experience. Ensure correctness and usability of software.
  • Maintain comprehensive, understandable and useful technical documents.
  • Give iterative product demonstrations to stakeholders.
  • Provides technical insight and expertise on latest trends/tools in the UxV engineering domain
  • Participates in user story and acceptance criteria discussions
  • Promotes a strong safety ethic by driving low defect count and system safety considerations

What you bring to the role

Required Skills, Qualification:

  • Excel working in a collaborative team environment.
  • Be comfortable with Windows and Linux development environments.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware and software systems.
  • Basic scripting and programming skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Understand Agile software development process and software testing techniques.
  • Experience with software system testing, software quality assurance or systems engineering.
