The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the continuity of the supply of goods for specific product lines, while driving continuous cost and process improvements.

Key position functions include:

  • Purchasing and expediting of items for stock and customer orders in compliance with Purchasing and QA policies and procedures.
  • Identify supply shortfalls and communicate these gaps along with a contingency plan to managers and internal customers.
  • Determine inventory levels, reordering points, min/max values and safety stock levels to satisfy demand based on production, demand, market trends, stock turns, shelf-life constraints and on time delivery.
  • Provide purchasing plan and control information by collecting and analyzing data and trends.
  • Provide Quotations to Sales/Estimating as required.
  • Negotiate pricing and volume discounts with suppliers for stock and projects.
  • Investigate part substitutions (including material at Branches or Reman) to present to Engineering or Sales in order to optimize inventory and minimize or reduce delivery time.
  • Responsible for handling aging inventory, including coordinating with vendors to return inventory for credit, suggesting substitutions to Engineering and Sales or suggest to scrap obsolete material.
  • Resolve supply chain issues including commercial competitiveness, on time delivery, NCR issues and supplier concerns.
  • Maintain current knowledge with respect to practices, trends, and information relative to supply chain management, the oil and gas industry and the Company.
  • Adhere to the Stream-Flo Guiding Principles
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Preferred candidates will possess a combination of the following:

  • 5+ years' experience in a purchasing role.
  • Analytical, results-oriented, and productive in a fast-paced environment as this person will be responsible for making tactical and strategic decisions to ensure customer satisfaction while bettering our inventory performance.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Willing to stand alone when feeling strongly about a particular action or improvement that must be made.
  • Enrollment in PMAC is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in supporting a manufacturing environment, including working knowledge of 6A Wellhead and Gate Valve equipment including material specifications.
  • Strong Excel, Outlook and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) skills.
  • Previous SAP MM module experience an asset.
  • The ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills.
