McElhanney is seeking a Geospatial Surveyor specializing in cutting-edge technologies such as 3D Scanners, RPAS/Drone, and other emerging tools. Your strong technical background, coupled with a deep understanding of conventional survey methods and the applications of remote sensed data, will be crucial to your success in this role. Experience in industrial, construction, or engineering surveys will provide valuable insights into project requirements. While prior experience in 3D scanning and RPAS is beneficial, our supportive team is ready to provide guidance and assistance as you continue to expand your technical knowledge and tackle complex problems.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Collecting field data using static laser scanners, SLAM scanners, and RPAS (photo and lidar) and assisting with data processing.
  • Supporting engineering and construction surveys including as-built, topographic surveys, layout of alignments, grades and features, high order control networks for survey or remotely sensed projects, quantity measurements, using conventional survey methods when remote sensing technology is not applicable.
  • Expanding on or developing processing and calculating skills to develop a broader knowledge of survey operations.
  • Where appropriate, working semi-autonomously to manage survey tasks, with full support from a project team.
  • Ensuring implementation processes for quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.

What You’ll Bring:
  • A two-year technical diploma in Geomatics with at least three (3) years of previous experience in a similar role. A higher level of experience in Construction Surveying will be considered if no diploma is held.
  • Experience with terrestrial Scanners or other new technology is an asset. RPAS/Drone experience is required.
  • Experience with geomatics software such as Civil3D, MicroSurvey, Trimble Business Centre, Cyclone, or Pix4D/ SiteScan.
  • Physical ability to work on varied terrain, potentially over long days.
  • Flexibility to work at remote project sites is required.
  • A strong work ethic and willingness to learn and share knowledge.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, as well as pre-site access testing as per client requirements.
