The Opportunity:
McElhanney Ltd. has a rewarding opportunity for a CAD technician with a survey or civil background to work on a major, multiyear, infrastructure project in Edmonton, AB. In this role you will be working directly with the client, contractors and McElhanney staff in a site based role. We are seeking a team player with work-based experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation to support survey and construction tasks. The role will involve using IFC drawings, surfaces, design models, point clouds and survey data to verify and produce survey field files. The ability to understand, track and compute quantity information will also be required.

What You’ll be Doing:
  • Track, combine and classify all data related to quantities. Produce surfaces, calculate areas and volumes, and prepare reports. Communicate with project staff to ensure information is not missing.
  • Calculate survey field files with reference to design information for roads, drainage, and structures.
  • Identify any discrepancies within the design data and give feedback to site staff for review.
  • Review and quality check of daily survey files from field crews.
  • Establish a good rapport and build relationships with all site staff by responding to requests and communicating information in a timely manner.
What You’ll Bring To The Team:
  • Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or similar program, plus 1 years’ experience in a similar role. A higher level of experience will be considered if no diploma is held.
  • Ability to work with Autodesk, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D products to a high degree of proficiency.
  • Ability to work with TBC, ArcGIS, Cyclone, TopoDot, Microstation, Revit would be a desirable asset but not necessary.
  • Ability to have strong communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities and a willingness to work independently and in a high-performing team atmosphere.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro and or Bluebeam
