The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a team member to join our Yellowhead team to grow our Civil Engineering presence in the Edson, Hinton and Whitecourt markets. In this role, you will serve as a visionary and strategic leader with dynamic people and leadership skills, and a passion for developing business opportunities. This managerial role, with shareholding opportunities, is ideal for a self-starter that can excel in a mature, privately held organization with an established engineering, surveying, and support services firm.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Lead diverse civil projects; manage technical, logistical, and financial aspects and carry out engineering design from proposal stage through to commissioning of the work
  • Vision of effective project management and will interface with design teams to ensure clients’ standards are met and engineering services meet or exceed expectations
  • Conduct technical design reviews and provide technical direction to the engineering team
  • Develop new business opportunities and services, and establish strategic relationships with key clients, agencies, and partners
  • Continually envision, prioritize, and support investments and initiatives that further growth of business, improve client experiences, and create competitive advantages
  • Create a collaborative and engaged team through positive mentoring and coaching strategies to support the growth of the team
  • Assist the Branch Manager in branch operations including business development, workload, staffing, equipment, safety, quality, and financial outcomes
  • Represent McElhanney to the external environment including clients, businesses, and professional associations to enhance McElhanney’s positive public profile

What You’ll Bring:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with strong technical skills and 5+ years of related technical experience
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng in Alberta or ability to obtain registration through existing inter-jurisdictional agreements
  • Proven ability to attract and retain clients, win projects, and consistently provide high quality deliverables on time and on budget
  • Demonstrated business development skills
  • An aptitude for leadership, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and relationship building
  • Bonus points if you have experience with all government levels, construction contractors and developers would be an asset
