Plumber, Journeyperson Capital Projects and Housing Department
ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a motivated and multitasked-oriented individual who is flexible and works well in a team environment to fill the position of Plumber.The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the plumbing work required in the residential, commercial, and community facilities is managed and completed in a timely and professional manner. The incumbent must be able to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. This is a full-time position based on eighty (80) hours bi-weekly, located in Fort McKay, AB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing fixtures, pipes, and other systems
Install supports before the installation of pipes, equipment, and fixtures
Identify and locate leaks
Performing cutting, welding, and assembling of pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures
A thorough inspection and testing of plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance
Collaboration with contractors, construction workers, and electricians to meet plumbing requirements
Provide a daily report of site conditions including work scope, force levels, and safety issues
Oversee completion of punch-lists, close-out documentation, and demobilize the job site at the completion of a project
Complete other duties and projects as assigned
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Grade twelve (12) or equivalent is required
Plumbing Journeyperson Certification is required
Knowledge and strong understanding of plumbing codes
CSTS and WHMIS; H2S Alive, Fall Arrest, Elevated Work Platform and other safety tickets
Experience working in a First Nations community including knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions and values is a definite asset
Ability to speak, read and write Cree and/or Dene is considered an asset
Clean Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector is required
Valid class 5 Driver's License & Clean Driver's Abstract required
