Position: Millwright Journeyperson

Type: Full-time

Location: CNRL Horizon

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off

Role Summary:

As an Industrial Mechanic/Journeyman Millwright, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Your role includes strict adherence to company and site safety policies and procedures. You are expected to promptly stop work and report any unsafe situations that may jeopardize the well-being of individuals, equipment, or the environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and scope.
  • Install, align, troubleshoot, dismantle, adjust and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment such as:
    • Pumps
    • Fans
    • Tanks
    • Compressors
    • Precision bearings and shafts
    • Gear boxes
    • Motors
    • Power transmissions
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • Blowers
  • Operate hoisting and lifting and rigging devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
  • Inspect, examine and troubleshoot machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Operate machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work as required on machinery.
  • Construct foundations for machinery or direct other workers to construct foundations.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation by using hand and power tools.
  • As required perform other duties that are not listed in this position description but are required to successfully carry out the role.
  • Safety aware and a responsible work attitude
  • Should be able to communicate clearly in English and hold good oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and follow blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Ability to understand the need and apply workmanship to exacting standards.
  • Basic understanding of computerized machinery
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics

Education & Experience:

  • Must hold valid Red Seal Journeyman Ticket as Industrial Mechanic/Millwright.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience required (Preferred) as a ticketed journeyman.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract is required.
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation, OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
  • Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Good co-ordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify a large variety of operational problems.
  • Good physical strength and stamina
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, contractors & clients.
  • Previous oil sands site experience will be considered an asset.
  • Good written and oral communication skills. All applicants must have ability to read, speak and write fluently in English.
  • Must currently reside in Canada and be eligible to work in Canada.
