Expectations:
Electricians are expected to be good and in strong decision making, problem solving troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills in a very dynamic environment. Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload and effectively meet deadline, also to have the ability to work independently and in a multifunctional team with minimum supervision.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
  • Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
  • Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
  • Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
  • Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
  • Fire-alarm troubleshooting and installation/construction
  • Design and carry out minor modifications on industrial equipment
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
  • Install industrial instrumentation and related devices
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud, noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, different shifts, and holidays with advance notice
  • Basic ability to use a computer and typing skills
  • Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word
  • High School diploma or Equivalent
  • Must be Alberta Journeyman Electrician or Canadian Journeyman Electrician with Red Seal Certificate


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform maintenance electrical trades
  • Experience in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, ability to troubleshoot and diagnostics
  • Prior experience in production related work
  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Experience with Arc flash and shock training
