The Opportunity:
McElhanney is seeking a highly skilled Party Chief with 3-5 years of experience to join our Calgary Geomatics team and reside in the Medicine Hat region. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Project Managers in our Energy and Resource sector. The successful candidate will be working primarily on renewable and electrification projects in Southern Alberta but will also be supporting other geomatics projects.   • The ability to travel and work out of town on occasion will be required
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, as well as pre-site access testing as per client requirements


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Field completion of various types of surveys focusing on legal surveys, construction stake out of Right-of-Ways, Roads, Structures etc., topographic surveys, and high precision construction surveys
  • Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise, and accurate field notes, records, and calculations
  • Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working independently with good communication skills
  • Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain
  • Experience with robotics total stations, Trimble GPS, and drones is an asset
  • Experience with Underground Utility Locating is an asset but not required
  • Valid driver’s license required
