Reporting to the Operations Manager - Infrastructure, the MI Supervisor - Asphalt is responsible for coordinating and supervising asphalt paving and cold recycling activities as well as overseeing crews on jobs and supporting the Infrastructure division. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee and conduct crew in a best in class manner, ensuring safety, quality, and accountability are top of mind.
  • Arrange third-party contractors to perform work as needed.
  • Ensure accurate ticketing/invoicing.
  • Coordinate the operation and maintenance of various units such as; asphalt paving, recycling, and compaction equipment.
  • Able to operate varies units on the work site if required.
  • Assist with getting crews ready to go out on jobs.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and progression of new hires.
  • Understand and assist with rigging in and rigging down units, running the equipment, chaining down the equipment to low boys, and location clean up.
  • Assist with cleaning, maintaining, and working on equipment by way of inspections and delegation to crew members.
  • Monitor asphalt mixing and paving operations to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
  • Communicate with various stakeholders by way of updates utilizing Microsoft Office.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications - Required

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the asphalt paving industry at a Supervisory or leadership level.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Willing to travel for assignments, for up to two weeks at a time. Accommodations will be provided.
  • Able to work long hours on a 15 days on, 6 days off schedule, including overtime and travel up to two weeks at a time.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate the work of others.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.

Qualifications - Looking For

  • Good computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and other software, as required.
  • Experience in the completion of reports.
  • Experience in dealing with customers and dispatch.
  • Understanding of job design and client specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety.
  • Able to perform all regular maintenance on equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform maintenance on trucks.
  • Worked in a similar environment (shop sites, remote locations).
  • Familiar with operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliable, and dependable.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change.
  • Understands the importance of safety.
  • Team player and customer service focused.
  • Demonstrated initiative and results orientated.

Qualifications - Assets

  • Possesses safety tickets.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement.
  • Class 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) driving license and experience on all types of roads.
