True Mechanical is looking to hire a Senior Estimator who specializes in Mechanical/Plumbing for Commercial/Institutional/Residential Projects.

RRSP Savings plan:

  • We contribute 3% of your wage to the company RRSP. The company's maximum contribution per year is $3,000.

As a full-time employee, you participate in the following programs through a monthly payroll deduction. You are eligible for these benefits as long as you are employed with us.

  • Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Life insurance up to $350,000 up to age 65, then up to $175,000 up to age 70.

The ideal candidate is curious, motivated, and has outstanding attention to detail. This person should be a critical thinker, a self-starter, and should possess the ability to complete personal tasks without supervision.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A combination of education and trade-work experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical estimating
  • Emotional intelligence & good stress management, maintain the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellence in written and oral communication
  • Capable of reading and understanding mechanical drawings
  • Able to do both mechanical and plumbing take-off
  • Time management & the ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Knowledge of BC Building Code and ASHRAE Standards
  • Maintains the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Reading front-end documents, including instructions to bidders to determine closing dates, tendering or RFQ procedures, etc.
  • Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing specific to tenders
  • Keep current with technology in the mechanical contracting industry to ensure that all estimates include the most up-to-date construction methods, materials, processes
  • Recommend alternates and cost-saving solutions when called on.
  • Participate in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, and project closeout.
  • Keep a current directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Travel to various sites when required for site walks.
