At SMS Equipment, our Electrical Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the Customers EDT Fleet and fixed assets. The Electrical Supervisor will assist and supervise a crew of trades people in repair procedures and techniques when problems are encountered. This position is in Elkford, BC.

The shift rotation for this position is 5x2 or 4x3. Housing is available.

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $125,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of tradespeople who repair and in shop and onsite mining equipment.
  • Assure a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product.
  • Take corrective action to improve job results when work standards or job results are not met.
  • Prepares and processes warranty claim repair orders.
  • Coordinate work through other trades and shops such as welding and warranty claims.
  • Accept shipments and ship products by verifying shipments and determine the method of shipment.
  • Ensure payroll and human resources policies and procedures are met and enforced.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensure all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed.
  • Maintain staff by training and ensure employees are trained in their assigned tasks, arrange and track training.
  • Serve customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems.
  • Resolve service problems by asking questions and clarifying the customer's concerns, determining the cause of the problem, explaining the best solution, making the correction or adjustment, and following up to ensure resolution.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Seek out revenue generating activities related to the electrical team.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a Journeyperson trade certification in a relevant trade with a minimum of 4 years' experience as a qualified tradesperson. Additional requirements include:

  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience and proven ability to oversee and coordinate the trades.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate the trades within a large and field shop operation.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of OHSE acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
