Position Title: Lead Maintenance Technician

Position Location: Royal Inland Hospital - Kamloops, BC

Position Summary: Reporting to the Operations & Plant Manager, the Lead Maintenance Technician will be a working maintenance technician position but with lead responsibilities. In addition to this, provide leadership to other maintenance staff, work, advise and assist the Operations & Plant Manager in the everyday operation of the facility.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participate in all mandatory EllisDon safety training and enforce all EllisDon safety policies and IHA policies. These policies shall be extended to any subcontractor working on the facility property.
  • Perform and ensure all facility maintenance work is scheduled and conducted in a safe and timely manner that meets all key performance indicators and agreements established between EllisDon Facilities Services and the appropriate health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in planning, control, and supervision of maintenance work in conjunction with the EDFS help desk.
  • Ensuring the continuity of all services through availability of redundant equipment, staffing as well as the various sub trades who provide maintenance and repair service to the physical plant and building's interior and exterior elements.
  • Oversees, assigns and performs daily routine and preventive maintenance tasks and will respond to demand work requests from the client.
  • Assists Operations & Plant Manager in gathering data and other analytics for monthly reporting.
  • Take charge of warranty management process, Small Works and Variations project processes and all utilities and service outage notification processes.
  • Implement scheduling and ensures the efficient utilization of maintenance staff, supplies, utilities, and equipment in a cost-effective manner while providing safe, quality service delivery to all patients, staff, and visitors at the hospital.

People Leadership Responsibilities:

  • This role will not be managing employees but will provide leadership to other maintenance staff.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Must be willing to participate in 24/7 on call rotation and occasional after hours and overtime work.
  • Assists in development and control of EDFS annual budget and assessing all conditions and modifications to the plant equipment and buildings to identify life cycle capital projects.
  • Coordinate and assist Operations & Plant Manager in managing staff and external contractors work for a variety of repairs and maintenance projects.
  • Must have experience in and are willing to do the following: Project management, HVAC filter changing, bearing greasing, belt changing, minor IT troubleshooting, Audio Visual equipment adjustment and troubleshooting, painting, wall & ceiling repair, doors & hardware, grounds keeping / snow removal & ice control.
  • Minor plumbing & electrical troubleshooting and repair.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years maintenance experience with 2 years of lead maintenance experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and control drawings; knowledge of Building
    Automation Systems, Life safety systems, Electrical systems and HVAC including Boilers, Chiller,
    Humidifiers, AHU's, Pumps, Motors, UPS, Generators, Fire Alarm, Security and AV systems.
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional computer skills.
  • A reasonable understanding of building communications network systems (ICAT) systems
