Description

The warehouse supervisor ensures the efficient and effective reclamation, processing, sorting, pricing, and distribution of donated goods under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager. The incumbent will provide team leadership to warehouse Mission Partners and will be responsible for the daily administration and operation of the warehouse.

Hours:

  • 40 per week
  • Usually Monday thru Friday, 8:30am - 5:00 pm. Some flexibility will be expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors, participates and/or supervises production and/or distribution operations of the warehouse
  • Participates in strategizing for better collection, warehousing, processing, and distribution of goods to the Salvation Army stores
  • Assists in the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees and/or volunteers; supervises performance, Health & Safety, and employee/labour relations
  • Assists in the annual PEACs (Performance Excellence and Coaching) (Performance Excellence and Coaching) for all mission partners.
  • Ensures overall compliance with all policies and procedures including safety procedures by implementing and monitoring Health & Safety policies and best practices.
  • Establishes staff schedules and, under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager, addresses vacancies as they arise (i.e., No shows, medical or vacation absences, etc. to ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Uploads time sheets into payroll
  • May manage the loss prevention program in compliance with the budget; prepares financial and other requested reports as required
  • Ensures sound and gracious donor relation practices are consistently exercised and that policies and procedures regarding donation refusals/turn-aways, etc. are implemented effectively to ensure items received support revenue generation.
  • Oversee baling operations for the MU's recycling programs.
  • Collects and processes goods or delivers to other Salvation Army agencies for emergency and disaster services as assigned (i.e., supply clothing, household goods (may include food) to families because of a disaster - flood/fire)
  • May be responsible for the warehouse fleet such as, the conveyor, trucks, baler, forklifts, compactors.
  • May be responsible for facility management including cleaning, maintenance, repairs in/outside and grounds maintenance
  • Informs Thrift Store Manager of any purchases or repairs that may be required, and forecasts expenses needed for yearly budgetary considerations
  • Participates regularly in Thrift Store Leadership Team meetings
  • May be called upon to participate in, contribute to and lead segments of Thrift Store staff meetings.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of College Diploma program of one academic year
  • Licensed Forklift Operator
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
  • An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • Completion of our online Praesidium Child Abuse Prevention Training, Respect in the Workplace, Health and Safety training, and other required training
  • First Aid Certificate with CPR-C & AED
