We are currently seeking a Director, Strategy to join our team.

The Director, Strategy is a senior leader who supports the development and execution of First West's long-term strategy. Working closely with the VP, Growth & Innovation, this role is responsible for strategy formulation, key activities that support strategy execution, and generating enterprise learning and insight through strategic reviews

Here's what would be included as a part of your typical day

  1. Leadership: Provides leadership, ongoing coaching, mentoring and support for all team members; conducts performance reviews and establishes performance goals for direct reports; creates an environment that supports accountability, teamwork, collaboration, and the achievement of results.
  2. Strategy Formulation: Conducts environmental assessments (internal and external) with first and third-party data to identify business problems and market opportunities. Collaborates with peers in Finance, Risk, Enterprise Insights, and other relevant departments to develop businesses cases that will inform strategic planning and prioritization.
  3. Strategy Execution: Supports the development of Enterprise Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Leads cross-functional test and learn projects to refine hypotheses and identify value creation opportunities for First West's members, team members and other stakeholders. Communicates the strategic positioning and priorities through regular presentations to cross-functional teams and the development of content that is cascaded throughout the organization.
  4. Enterprise Learning: Manages, monitors, and evaluates strategic KPIs to support continuous improvement and the realization of our enterprise vision. Facilitates best-practice sharing around OKR development. Coordinated monthly and quarterly strategic reviews with business line owners.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Hon. BA degree in Business or related field required
  • MBA preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in the financial services industry experience required
  • 5+ years' experience in strategy development, data analytics, program management, or transformation in complex organizations preferred
  • Strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to integrate complex information to identify solutions or solve problems and apply a strategic mindset to keep pace in a highly fluid, collaborative environment.
  • Strong operational knowledge of the financial services sector
  • Creative and resourceful, with the ability to find innovative ways to provide solutions
  • Exceptional prioritization and project/time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional quantitative and/or financial acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-term relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including business leaders
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $116,000 - $148,600

The final compensation offered may vary based on a variety of factors including bonuses and/or incentives, or a candidate's skills and experience.
