We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs general troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and renovation duties for all locations including electrical work, plumbing, heating/air conditioning, carpentry, millwork, and other general trades activities. The individual processes and completes work orders and ensures a safe and clean working environment is maintained. The maintenance technician conducts a continuing assessment of building conditions and identifies pre-maintenance issues as well as implements emergency preparedness plans to protect staff and member safety in the event of a facility emergency.

Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day

  1. Maintenance & Repairs: Perform a variety of duties relating to the troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, renovation and physical improvement of facilities including electrical work, plumbing, forced air heating, air conditioning, carpentry, millwork, drywall, flooring and painting; carry out minor repairs to appliances, windows and doors, ceilings, office furniture and all other physical assets owned by the organization; process and complete work orders and related documentation and identify and take action to correct unsafe working conditions. Ensure equipment and/or supplies are delivered in a safe and timely fashion.
  2. Branch & Facility Support: Provide support in the resolution of problems, issues and challenges associated with the daily operation of Facilities Services and respond to customer concerns and complaints through the application of customer service skills and Department Service Standards; ensure all customers concerns have been addressed directly or through referral to facilities specialists. Transport materials and products to or from locations in emergent and non-emergent situations
  3. Preventative Maintenance: Conduct a continuing assessment of building conditions, identify pre-maintenance issues and initiate plans to address those issues in future maintenance activities; consult with Supervisor on significant, unplanned maintenance issues.
  4. Emergency Response: Respond to emergency requests for assistance in any area of facility operation and implement emergency preparedness plans to protect staff and member safety for events such as a gas leak, earthquake, fire, power loss or any other significant event affecting facility operation.
  5. Compliance and Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional standard of conduct at all times while promoting a positive image of the organization. Maintain compliance with all audit and risk management requirements and all other internal policies.
  6. Other: Participate in a variety of projects related to facilities maintenance as assigned. May assemble and dismantle promotional displays at branch and/or general public functions. On a relief basis, perform selected functions of the Supervisor, Facilities Services.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma and minimum one year of post-secondary training or apprenticeship in building maintenance or other related trade required
  • Minimum of 4 - 5 years experience in a similar position.
  • NOTE: Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered
  • Valid driver’s license – minimum Class 5
  • Take responsibility for self-development and continuous learning to achieve required knowledge for the job
  • Ability to show initiative and work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and plan, schedule, organize and prioritize work orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure
  • Flexibility in schedule and willingness to work outside of normal working hours
  • Demonstrated proficiency with carpentry, plumbing and electrical tools
  • Physical dexterity and strength (Note: may be required to pass a pre-employment medical)
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $43,840 - 53,200
