The Opportunity:
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Land Development Designer with potential advancement to Project Manager to join our Engineering team in Surrey. This role is ideal for someone who is looking for a challenging opportunity in Land Development, with skills to be utilized on a wide variety of Land development-based projects. The ideal individual will come with solid experience in dealing with the local government and developers within the lower mainland.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Carry out and oversee aspects of engineering design for land development, from proposal stage through commissioning of the work.
  • Provide planning and design support including preparation of drawings, calculations, and modelling for civil works (water, wastewater, stormwater, and roads).
  • Provide detailed design support for various infrastructure projects including municipal engineering, road works, utility, and facility upgrades.
  • Assist in the preparation of approval, tender, and contract documents.
  • Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
  • Work with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality control standards are achieved and maintained.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering with approximately 2+ years of progressive experience in the design of land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Registration in good standing as an EIT or A.Sc.T. in British Columbia, or eligibility to be registered.
  • Proficiency in the application of AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential and would be a key skill set.
  • High productivity, attention to detail, effective verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a desire to work in a thriving environment.
  • Experience with construction inspection and contract administration is preferred.
