Role Overview
McElhanney Ltd. is looking for a British Columbia Land Surveyor (BCLS) working on projects throughout BC and Internationally. The successful individual will have the opportunity to manage projects across various market sectors with a focus on using modern survey technologies to meet the needs of our clients and stakeholders. The ability to lead survey teams, provide advice to clients and colleagues and maintain project budgets is essential. This intermediate or senior level role is ideal for a self-driven, superior communicator who enjoys a challenge and the satisfaction derived from being part of an established multidisciplinary team.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Managing various survey project types including mining and infrastructure, indigenous land claims, land development, topographic, engineering and construction
  • Leading survey crews and office staff on projects; communicating scope and scheduling information to team members
  • Promoting a culture of safety and adherence to McElhanney HSE policies and Safe Work Methods
  • Maintaining project budgets and building client relationships
  • Liaising with both internal (McElhanney) and external Project Managers and clients
  • Providing mentorship, guidance, and training to assist with professional development of the survey team
  • Ensuring quality assurance procedures are carried out for proposals, field returns, drawings, legal plans, documents, and other deliverables
  • Providing advice to clients on property and legal survey matters
  • Other duties as required.

What You’ll Bring:
  • BCLS accreditation with a minimum of 5 years practicing; CLS commission is an asset. Commissioned Land Surveyors from other jurisdictions with intent to attain ABCLS commission will be considered
  • Diploma or degree in Geomatics with strong data processing/computations skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Office 360, MSCAD or Civil3D and GNSS processing software at minimum)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Periods of travel may be required for the role
