Title: Building Maintenance Technician
Department: Mountain Operations
Reports to: Operations Manager

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Building Maintenance Technician is a hands-on position, responsible for overseeing and carrying out all aspects of building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical. This position also assists with the operation of Mt Seymour's water and wastewater systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To work with the Building Maintenance Supervisor to organize preventative maintenance, inventory, and record-keeping system.
  • You will carry out maintenance required in all base area buildings, structures, and facilities in areas such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, heating, and appliances.
  • You will coordinate all maintenance requirements in all base area buildings, structures, and facilities.
  • You are responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of domestic water and sewage treatment systems, including the recording and reporting of all required information.
  • You will control the systematic distribution, collection, and recording of all building keys.
  • You will ensure that all building maintenance work performed is in adherence to all building codes and WorkSafe BC regulations.
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe workplace and ensure a high standard in all finished work, while remaining cost-effective.
  • You will ensure adherence to health and safety regulations when performing tasks.
  • Other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years of previous experience in providing building maintenance services and/or red seal plumbing or carpentry trade preferred.
  • Knowledge of methods used in heating, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is required.
  • Water operator ticket or experience in domestic water testing an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with managers, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment, and to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions in mountainous terrain.
  • To be a supportive team member.
  • Able to work flexible shifts to include weekends and evenings during the operating season effective immediately through to mid-April, with the potential to extend to a year-round position.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Full-time, year round position
  • Wage range $27-$31 per hour.
  • Family Season's Pass.
  • Shuttle Bus Pass.
  • Works 5 days out of 7 in the winter operating season, and 4-ten-hour shifts during mid-May to October.
