Job Description

Our Electrical and Automation Engineering Department is growing and are seeking a draftsperson with the passion to advance to join our team. BBA offers exciting and interesting work in the Energy, Industrial and Mining sectors while encouraging self-development. Our focus developing cutting-edge expertise leads us to search for passionate, innovative and entrepreneurial professionals with remarkable team spirit.

As an Electrical/Automation Draftsperson, you will collaborate with project teams in the Energy, Industrial and Mining sectors. You will participate in various project stages including project scoping, detail engineering, equipment specifications, construction, commissioning and operational support. The responsibilities of this role include performing the following activities to the highest quality:

  • Draft and plot Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation and P&C drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation and/or Revit
  • Draft scaled drawings.
  • Model in 3D environments.
  • Read and understand multidisciplinary drawings
  • Adhere to internal and client standards.
  • Take instruction from senior drafters and designers
  • Update Drawing lists and help prepare transmittals/submittals


  • Excellent organization in regard to time management, file management, revision history, document coding, etc.
  • Experience using 3D point clouds desirable.
  • Experience with Structural, mechanical, civil deliverables is desirable.
  • Smart plant experience is desirable.
  • Able to learn on the fly and think critically
  • Aptitude for self-development and development of others
  • Strong safety awareness
  • Honest and trustworthy in accordance with BBA’s ethics and values
  • Client focused with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Desire to share knowledge and experience with other peers
  • Adaptable to various environments and situations

  • Able to work within scope, schedule and budget

  • Drafting Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant project experience
  • Excellent communication skills with high competency in English (both spoken and written)
  • Ability to travel on short notice to client sites and other BBA offices
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD
  • Additionally, the following skills are considered assets:
  • Experience with Utilities in British Columbia
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code
  • Experience in engineering design database environments and automated production of
    design deliverables
