The Opportunity

The Leader, Learning drives initiatives to enhance organizational and individual learning capabilities and orchestrates outstanding learning experiences across the board. Collaborating closely with internal partners, they lead the implementation of learning and development endeavors, aligning them with the organization's strategy and goals. Inspiring and guiding team members, this role ensures impactful results through diverse training programs.

Pay Grade: 19 ($98,500 - $147,800 annual base salary*)
Location: Vancouver, BC or open to any of our BC regional offices (hybrid environment)
Reports to: Vice President, People

As a Leader of Learning, you will:

Learning & Development:

  • Identify organizational training needs and implement effective solutions.
  • Establish learning best practices for integrated client services.
  • Collaborate with leaders to address performance gaps and align training with company strategy.
  • Evaluate and improve Learning Management System (LMS) and training effectiveness.
  • Work with leaders and HR for succession planning and development programs.
  • Develop, refine, and manage organization-wide learning programs.
  • Drive change management and organizational learning objectives.
  • Direct research and implementation of program delivery methods.
  • Guide the team in assessing and mitigating program risks.

Research & Analytics:

  • Create and use learning metrics and performance indicators.
  • Evaluate the value and effectiveness of learning programs.
  • Use data to improve training program outcomes.

Leadership:

  • Ensure timely execution of all training programs.
  • Offer guidance to leaders and the learning team for improvement.
  • Lead by example, promoting engagement and agile thinking.
  • Manage the annual training budget.

Employee Management/Employee and Labour Relations:

  • Handle employee management tasks such as recruitment, selection, relations, and performance. This involves interviewing and hiring staff, as well as planning, assigning, and monitoring their tasks.
  • Implement corrective measures like counseling and training, and if necessary, disciplinary actions including termination.
  • Establish and maintain work standards and performance measurements for employees.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience you have:

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Psychology, Sociology or related field, supplemented by at least 7 years of progressive responsible experience in learning and leading a team.
  • Proven experience leading learning and development professionals, while motivating them to achieve results. Extensive work experience in executing and prioritizing training programs in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to lead a team through agile thinking methodologies.
  • In-depth work experience interpreting and measuring training program performance data. Strong problem solving and project management skills.
  • Understanding of organizational complexity and how to thrive in it.
  • Experience implementing and/or managing learning management systems and training programs.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in research and analytics skills.
  • Ability to inspire change, lead and influence others.
  • Strong resiliency with ability to embrace uncertainty and lead evolution and adaption.
  • Displays courage, connection and generosity in leadership and decision making.
  • Ability to break down complex concepts and translate to easy-to-understand messages.
  • High level of cultural competency.
