Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and adaptable Mechanical Engineer with strong FEA and CFD skills. You will support the delivery of a wide range of hydroelectric design projects, renewable energy designs and power generation plant rehabilitation with a focus on penstock design.

You will play a key role in engineering projects, from front end-studies through field implementation. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, this role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional technical quality, the development of new business opportunities and nurturing the professional development of members of the Mechanical team.

The Mechanical Engineer can expect to:

  • Be a key member of small to major brownfield/greenfield projects involving turbines, bearings, piping/penstock, HVAC and cooling systems
  • Participate in site inspections, quality assessments and oversee testing
  • Establish key client relationships and actively support business development opportunities that align with BBA’s strategic vision for growth and ongoing diversification in the Western region
  • Provide mentorship and coaching of junior engineers and designers, actively sharing knowledge and supporting the enhancement of skills within the team


  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering with a preference for post-graduate
  • Seven to 12 years of relevant engineering experience in the power sector with a preference for 5 years in consulting
  • Must be a registered P.Eng
  • Proficiency in Technical Writing
  • Understanding of design codes: ASME, CSA, API, AWWA
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, MatLab, MathCAD
  • Available for site work and short-term assignments (mandatory) and long-term assignments (asset) to client sites
  • Valid driver’s license
